Ukumehame Beach Park (1000 Peaks)

This wave a offers a slow gradual peak of knee to overhead size waves that's perfect for beginners and advanced long board surfers. It breaks both rights and lefts with bigger sets on the outside and several nice easy reforms on the inside. With a mixture of reef and sand, the chest deep bottom is fairly safe especially when you apply the techniques to hold on to your board at the end a wave or fall flat to stay on the surface.
For the most fun we recommend surfing here in the morning lessons when the winds tend to be lighter & waves glassy.

How to get there:
Drive on Honoapiilani Hwy. 30 towards Lahaina. As soon as you come out of the tunnel on the Pali and drive down the hill, look to your left and you will see the beach. Look between mile markers 11 and 12.
Or coming from Lahaina: Drive on Honoapiilani Hwy. 30 and look between mile markers 13 and 12 after you pass Oluwalu General Store. See map on location page.

Kalama Beach Park

This wave offer a consistent, long, gentle peak of knee high to head high waves with several good reef breaks making it a good beginner to advanced wave for long boarding and Keikis (children). This Maui surf spot is fronted by a large, well-landscaped park with a lot of space for streatching-out with picnic areas & restroom facilities. Photos of you surfing at this break is easy to get from in the water or from shore. The water can get very shallow, it varies from chest deep to ankle deep close to shore in places. We take extra care at low tide, and wear booties.
For the most fun we recommend surfing here in the morning lessons when the winds tend to be lighter & waves glassy.

How to get there:
Drive on South Kihei Road toward the middle of the town. Look for the giant replica of a Humpback Whale along the ocean side of the road at the intersection of South Kihei Road and Auhana Road . The next Park 100 yards south of that Whale is Kalama Park. See map on location page.
